President Murmu Visits Bucharest War Memorial During Romania Trip
Murmu honours fallen soldiers during Romania visit.
President Droupadi Murmu paid her respects at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Bucharest on Friday, marking an important engagement during the final leg of her three-nation Europe visit. The monument, which honours Romania’s fallen soldiers, is regarded as a national symbol representing patriotism, unity and peace.
The President’s Secretariat shared that Murmu visited the memorial as part of her official engagements in Romania. The visit highlighted the importance of remembering soldiers who sacrificed their lives and reflected the longstanding respect between nations for their shared values of peace and national service.
Earlier in the day, President Murmu addressed the India–Romania Business Forum in Bucharest in the presence of Romanian President Nicusor Dan, members of the Romanian government, business leaders and representatives from industry associations of both countries. During the forum, she focused on expanding economic cooperation and strengthening business partnerships between India and Romania.

Murmu highlighted India’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’, which aims to transform the country into a developed nation by the centenary year of Independence. She invited Romanian companies to participate in India’s economic growth journey through investment, technology partnerships and increased collaboration across sectors.
The President also spoke about the significance of the proposed India–European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA), describing it as a major opportunity to deepen trade relations, increase investment flows and create stronger supply chains. She said effective implementation of the agreement would provide a stable environment for businesses and open new opportunities for startups, innovators and micro, small and medium enterprises.
President Murmu further emphasised the potential for cooperation between India and Romania in areas such as digital technology, cybersecurity, software development and advanced research. She expressed confidence that the business communities of both countries would build successful partnerships by combining India’s digital and innovation strengths with Romania’s technological expertise.
