PML-N Warns Imran Khan’s Sons Against Violent Protests
Strict action promised if unrest erupts
Tensions escalated as Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders warned that Imran Khan’s sons, Suleman and Kasim, would face strict action if they join “violent protests” in Pakistan as part of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) planned “Imran Khan Free Movement” starting August 5, 2025. The threat follows Aleema Khan’s announcement that the UK-based brothers intend to join PTI’s campaign to demand their father’s release from prison, where he has been held since August 2023.
Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari questioned the timing of the brothers’ planned visit, stating, “They didn’t come when Khan was injured. Now they suddenly miss Pakistan?” She warned that the government would not allow “instigators” to use the brothers to create unrest. Similarly, Prime Minister’s Adviser Rana Sanaullah cautioned that arrest awaits if they lead violent protests, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi emphasized that no one is above the law.
PML-N Senator Irfan Siddiqui took a softer stance, suggesting the brothers should be allowed to come and protest within legal boundaries. “If they cross the limitations of the law, the law will take its course,” he said, noting their British nationality limits their political engagement under Pakistan’s Constitution.

Imran Khan’s ex-wife, Jemima Goldsmith, condemned the warnings as a “personal vendetta,” alleging the government prevents her sons from speaking to their father, who is in solitary confinement. “This isn’t politics; it’s not a democracy,” she posted on X. Kasim Khan echoed this, claiming their father is “fully cut off” from family and lawyers, describing it as an attempt to “isolate and break” him.
The controversy comes amid PTI’s planned protests against the PML-N-led government, which Khan accuses of stealing the 2024 election mandate. The government’s firm stance signals heightened political friction as the August 5 protest date approaches.
