PM Modi to Release Stamp and Coin at RSS Centenary Celebration

Prime Minister will address gathering as chief guest honoring hundred years of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) centenary celebrations on Wednesday, where he will release a commemorative postage stamp and coin to honour the organisation’s contributions to India. The event, held in New Delhi, will feature Modi as the chief guest, addressing an audience to mark the RSS’s 100 years of service since its founding in 1925. The RSS, a prominent Hindutva organisation, has been a significant force in shaping India’s socio-cultural landscape, emphasising patriotism, discipline, and social responsibility.

Established in Nagpur by Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, the RSS was founded to promote cultural awareness and national reconstruction through volunteerism. The organisation describes its mission as fostering devotion to the motherland, self-restraint, courage, and heroism, with the ultimate goal of achieving India’s all-round development, or "Sarvangeena Unnati". Over the past century, the RSS has grown into a vast network, attributing its expansion to its vision of national glory rooted in Dharma, responding to centuries of foreign rule, according to an official statement.

The RSS has made notable contributions in education, health, social welfare, and disaster relief. Its volunteers have been instrumental in providing aid during natural calamities, including floods, earthquakes, and cyclones. Affiliated organisations have also worked to empower youth, women, and farmers while strengthening community ties. The centenary event underscores these efforts, celebrating the RSS’s role in fostering national unity and cultural heritage.

Modi, a former RSS pracharak known for his organisational skills before joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), will highlight the RSS’s enduring legacy. The release of the stamp and coin symbolises the organisation’s historical significance and its ongoing commitment to India’s development. The celebration not only honours past achievements but also reinforces the RSS’s vision for a united and culturally vibrant India.
