PM to launch Rs 5,100 crore projects in Arunachal, Tripura.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura on September 22, 2025, to kickstart transformative development initiatives worth over Rs 5,100 crore, aimed at boosting the Northeast’s economic and cultural landscape. The whirlwind tour, announced by the Prime Minister’s Office, will see Modi laying foundation stones for key projects in Itanagar and inaugurating spiritual and infrastructural upgrades in Tripura, signaling a major push for regional growth.

In Arunachal Pradesh, Modi will launch two significant hydropower projects in Itanagar—the 240 MW Heo Hydro Electric Project and the 186 MW Tato-I Hydro Electric Project, together valued at over Rs 3,700 crore. These initiatives, located in the Siyom sub-basin, aim to harness Arunachal’s vast hydroelectric potential, promising sustainable energy and economic benefits for the state. Additionally, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for a cutting-edge Convention Centre in Tawang, situated at over 9,820 feet. Designed to host over 1,500 delegates, this global-standard facility will elevate tourism and cultural exchange by accommodating national and international conferences, festivals, and exhibitions.

Modi will also greenlight infrastructure projects worth over Rs 1,290 crore, spanning connectivity, healthcare, fire safety, and working women’s hostels. These developments are expected to enhance quality of life, spur economic activity, and improve regional connectivity. In a nod to fostering entrepreneurship, the PM will engage with local taxpayers, traders, and industry leaders in Arunachal to discuss the impact of recent GST rate rationalizations, which take effect on the same day, promising lower prices for numerous goods.

In Tripura, Modi will focus on cultural preservation, inaugurating development works at the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple Complex in Matabari under the PRASAD scheme. This revered Shakti Peetha, one of the ancient 51 in Udaipur, Gomati district, will see upgrades including a tortoise-shaped complex with new pathways, renovated entrances, enhanced drainage, and a three-storeyed facility featuring stalls, a meditation hall, guest accommodations, and offices. These improvements are poised to boost tourism, create jobs, and drive socio-economic growth in the region.

Modi’s visit underscores his government’s commitment to integrating the Northeast into India’s growth story while preserving its rich cultural heritage. As the nation anticipates his address later today at 5 PM, these initiatives signal a bold step toward transforming Arunachal and Tripura into hubs of economic and spiritual significance.
