PM Modi Lands in Namibia to Strengthen Historic Ties with First Visit in 27 Years
The visit is poised to shape India-Africa relations and advance Global South priorities.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Namibia on Wednesday, marking the final stop of his five-nation tour aimed at bolstering India’s global partnerships. This historic visit, the first by an Indian Prime Minister in nearly three decades and only the third ever, underscores India’s commitment to deepening ties with the southwest African nation.
Invited by President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, Modi will engage in bilateral talks to enhance cooperation in trade, energy, and digital infrastructure, with a focus on critical minerals like uranium and diamonds.
The leaders are expected to sign agreements in trade, investment, education, health, and ICT, reinforcing the multifaceted relationship rooted in India’s support for Namibia’s independence struggle since 1946.

Modi will also pay homage to Namibia’s Founding Father, Dr. Sam Nujoma, and address a joint session of the Namibian Parliament, highlighting shared values of freedom and development.
