PM Modi Hails Himanta Biswa Sarma As Wonderful Administrator After Assam Oath Ceremony
Himanta Biswa Sarma sworn in as Assam CM again, PM Modi praises his governance and leadership.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday congratulated Himanta Biswa Sarma after he took oath as Chief Minister of Assam for a second consecutive term, praising him as a “wonderful administrator” who has delivered “pioneering work” for the state. The BJP-led NDA’s return to power marks its third straight term in Assam, reinforcing the alliance’s strong political position in the northeastern state.
In a post on social media platform X, Modi described the occasion as “a great day for Assam” and highlighted the NDA’s continued electoral success in the state. He also extended his best wishes to Sarma for the new tenure, expressing confidence in the leadership’s ability to further strengthen governance and development initiatives across Assam.
Sarma, who first assumed office as Chief Minister in 2021, was sworn in again following a decisive mandate in the recently concluded Assam Assembly elections. The BJP-led alliance’s victory paved the way for continuity in leadership, with Sarma emerging as a central figure in the party’s regional strategy and governance model in the Northeast.

Alongside Sarma, four ministers were also inducted into the new Council of Ministers. They include former Union Minister Rameswar Teli, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) President Atul Bora, United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) leader Charan Boro, and senior BJP leader Ajanta Neog. The inclusion of leaders from alliance partners reflects the coalition structure of the NDA government in Assam.
The swearing-in ceremony witnessed a high-profile gathering, with Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, BJP national leaders, and chief ministers from multiple NDA-ruled states in attendance. The event also drew several religious leaders, including 15 Satradhikars from Assam’s Vaishnavite monasteries, alongside industrialists and prominent public figures.
The ceremony, marked by large public participation and political symbolism, underscored the BJP’s continued consolidation of power in Assam. Sarma, dressed in traditional Assamese attire, was sworn in amid enthusiastic cheers from supporters, signaling the beginning of another term focused on governance continuity and development priorities in the state.
