PM Modi Declares 'MANAV' Vision at AI Summit: Ethical, Inclusive AI for Humanity
PM Modi unveils 'MANAV' vision at AI Impact Summit, calling for accessible, inclusive and ethical AI.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday unveiled India’s “MANAV Vision” for artificial intelligence at the ongoing AI Impact Summit 2026, emphasising that AI must be accessible, inclusive, human‑centric and ethically guided as it transforms societies and economies. The announcement took place at the summit held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi — a global forum bringing together world leaders, tech executives and policymakers.
Modi framed MANAV, a Sanskrit word meaning “human,” as both a vision and a governance framework for responsible AI development. He explained that the five letters stand for: Moral and ethical systems; Accountable governance; National sovereignty over data; Accessible and inclusive technology; and Valid, lawful and verifiable AI systems. This approach, he said, aims to ensure that AI serves humanity’s welfare rather than undermining it.
In his address, the prime minister stressed that AI should be democratized and made a tool for empowerment and inclusion, particularly benefiting people in the Global South. Modi warned that unchecked AI could reduce humans to mere “data points” if not guided by ethical principles and strong oversight, and called for global cooperation to keep human command at the heart of technological progress.

Modi’s remarks painted AI as a transformative force in human history, one that could reshape work, education, healthcare and governance — but only if developed with clear safeguards, accountability and fairness. He also highlighted the need for AI solutions that are child‑safe, privacy‑respecting and transparent, underscoring the responsibility to protect societies from bias and misuse.
The AI Impact Summit, hosted by India for the first time in the Global South, has drawn representatives from more than 100 countries and global tech leaders to discuss the future of AI and its societal impact. Alongside MANAV, sessions at the summit have showcased innovation, ethical AI initiatives, and discussions on rules that can govern future AI deployments equitably.
Modi’s vision aligns with India’s broader pitch to become a global hub for AI innovation and governance, combining technological ambition with principles of inclusivity, sovereignty and shared benefit. As AI continues to evolve rapidly, the MANAV Vision frames India’s push for balanced, human‑oriented progress at the intersection of technology and public policy.
