PM Modi Begins High-Stakes Three-Nation Tour With Strategic Jordan Visit
PM Modi begins a three-nation foreign tour with Jordan, holding talks on security, trade, and regional stability.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarks on a four-day, three-nation tour starting with Jordan on December 15, 2025, followed by visits to Ethiopia and Oman, to enhance India's strategic, economic, and cultural engagements in West Asia and Africa. The itinerary aligns with key diplomatic milestones and emphasises trade, investment, defence, and Global South collaboration. In the initial segment, Modi arrives in Amman amid celebrations of the 75th anniversary of India-Jordan diplomatic relations, setting the stage for substantive high-level dialogues.
In Jordan, Modi is scheduled to conduct in-depth discussions with King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein, Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, and Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah. The focus includes assessing bilateral relations, identifying fresh opportunities in trade, investment, and defence partnerships, and sharing perspectives on regional peace and anti-terrorism strategies. Additionally, Modi will co-address an India-Jordan business forum to spotlight avenues for private-sector synergies.
The tour progresses to Ethiopia on December 16-17, representing Modi's inaugural trip to the country. He plans to hold comprehensive talks with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali on advancing bilateral cooperation across various domains and will deliver a speech to a joint session of the Ethiopian Parliament, offering views on India's democratic evolution and the promise of India-Ethiopia alliances in promoting Global South objectives.
The concluding phase in Oman from December 17-18 commemorates 70 years of diplomatic ties. Modi intends to engage with Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to fortify the strategic alliance, potentially culminating in the declaration of the India-Oman Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) to amplify trade and investment flows.
During the entire journey, Modi will connect with dynamic Indian diaspora groups, recognising their roles in fostering host-country development and strengthening bilateral connections. These interactions aim to harness community contributions for mutual progress.
This multi-country engagement reaffirms India's dedication to broadening collaborations in energy, technology, food security, and infrastructure amid dynamic international landscapes, positioning India as a pivotal player in regional and global affairs.
