PM Modi Accuses Congress of Pakistan Alignment, Highlights Women’s Reservation Plans

PM Modi accuses Congress of Pakistan alignment, urges women voters.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday accused the Congress of aligning with Pakistan’s narrative, claiming that such a stance poses a threat to national security. Speaking at an election rally in Assam’s Barpeta district, he highlighted his government’s counter-terrorism measures while alleging that the opposition undermines the country’s security interests.

Modi referred to Operation Sindoor, aimed at terror camps in Pakistan, and said, “While our government conducts operations to safeguard the nation, the opposition continues to sing to the tune of Pakistan. This Pakistan connection compromises the nation’s security, and we can never allow that.”

On development issues, the prime minister accused the Congress of adopting short-term policies for personal gain, contrasting it with the BJP’s long-term vision. “The party always took short-term measures so they could indulge in corruption. The BJP, however, looks ahead and takes decisions for the all-around development of all sections of society,” he said.

He also criticized Congress for neglecting the armed forces, particularly citing the delay in implementing the ‘One Rank, One Pension’ scheme, and claimed his government ensured justice and benefits for military personnel. Modi further highlighted Assam’s relative peace and stability, attributing it to BJP-led efforts to implement peace accords over the last decade.

Appealing directly to women voters, Modi urged support for the proposed 33 per cent reservation for women in Parliament, which he said would come into effect from the 2029 general elections. He encouraged women in Assam to press all political parties to back the bill.

The prime minister concluded by linking development and stability in Assam to BJP governance, emphasizing that keeping Congress out of power is essential for continued progress. Elections for the state’s 126 assembly constituencies are scheduled for April 9, with vote counting set for May 4.
