America's Most Advanced Jet is Hit by Iranian Fire Over Enemy Skies
A US F-35 stealth jet was hit by Iranian fire during a combat mission over Iran's airspace.
A F-35 Lightning II operated by the United States military was struck during a combat mission over Iran, forcing the aircraft to make an emergency landing at a US base in the Middle East. The incident, confirmed by US Central Command, is under investigation and marks a significant development in the ongoing regional conflict. Officials said the pilot landed safely and is in stable condition.
According to a statement by Central Command spokesperson Captain Tim Hawkins, the fifth-generation stealth fighter was hit by what is believed to be Iranian fire while operating over Iranian airspace. While the US has not officially confirmed the source of the strike, the acknowledgment that the aircraft was damaged mid-mission has raised concerns about the evolving threat environment in the region. The incident is being closely examined to determine the exact cause and sequence of events.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed responsibility for the strike, stating that its air defence systems successfully targeted and severely damaged the aircraft over central Iran. The IRGC further asserted that the strike occurred in the early hours of the morning and suggested there was a high possibility the aircraft could have crashed, a claim not verified by US officials.

A video circulating online, purportedly showing the moment of impact, has added to the intensity of the situation. The footage appears to capture an explosion and a trail of smoke as the aircraft veers off course mid-air. While the authenticity of the video has not been independently verified, it has been widely shared and is being scrutinized by analysts and defence observers.
If confirmed as a direct hit by Iranian forces, the incident would mark the first known instance of Iran successfully striking one of the most advanced and expensive aircraft in the US arsenal. The F-35 is considered a cornerstone of modern air combat capabilities, and any vulnerability exposed during active operations could have broader strategic implications for military engagements in the region.
The development comes amid escalating hostilities between the United States and Iran, following a series of airstrikes and retaliatory attacks since late February. The conflict has already resulted in multiple casualties and equipment losses, with US forces reporting fatalities and injuries across several Middle Eastern locations. As tensions remain high, the incident underscores the increasing risks faced by military personnel and assets operating in the region.
