Palestinian Worker Stabs Hotel Guests in Jerusalem Militant Attack

Palestinian worker stabs guests in second militant attack near Jerusalem this week.

A violent incident shook a hotel in Kibbutz Tzuba, outside Jerusalem, on Friday when a Palestinian employee stabbed two guests in what Israeli police have classified as a militant attack, the second such incident in the region this week. The assailant, identified as 28-year-old Bassel Zablani from the Shuafat refugee camp in east Jerusalem, emerged from the hotel kitchen and attacked the victims in the dining room, police reported.

Israeli paramedics evacuated two men, aged approximately 50 and 25, to Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem’s Ein Kerem. Both suffered stab wounds to their torsos, with the older man in critical condition and the younger in moderate condition. An off-duty police officer, present at the hotel with family, tackled the attacker with the assistance of the hotel’s dining manager, restraining him until additional officers arrived to make the arrest. Three other individuals were also detained on suspicion of involvement, though their identities remain undisclosed.

The hotel clarified that Zablani, a dishwasher employed through a manpower company, was not a direct staff member. Witnesses reported the suspect shouted “Allahu Akbar” during the attack and expressed a desire to die, according to police accounts.

This stabbing follows a deadly shooting on Monday by two Palestinians from the occupied West Bank, which killed six people in Jerusalem’s Ramot Junction, claimed by the militant Hamas group. The ongoing Israel-Hamas war in Gaza, which has resulted in tens of thousands of Palestinian deaths, continues to fuel a surge of violence across Israel and the West Bank.
