Pakistan's Interior Minister Arrives in Iran After Iran-US Switzerland Talks Postponed
Pakistan's Mohsin Naqvi reaches Mashhad to meet Iranian counterparts amid postponed US-Iran Switzerland negotiations.
Pakistan's Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi arrived in Iran on Saturday after planned negotiations between Iran and the United States in Switzerland were postponed, according to Iranian media reports. The visit comes as diplomatic efforts continue following the signing of a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending hostilities in the Middle East.
Tehran and Washington had been scheduled to hold talks in Switzerland on Friday after agreeing to the memorandum, but the negotiations were postponed without a new date being announced. The delay has shifted attention to regional diplomatic engagements involving key mediators.
Iranian media outlets, including Tasnim News Agency, reported that Mohsin Naqvi landed in the northeastern city of Mashhad. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei had earlier confirmed the visit, describing it as part of Pakistan's efforts related to the ongoing Iran-US negotiation process.

During the visit, Mohsin Naqvi is expected to meet Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to discuss the next steps in diplomatic engagement. Pakistan has played a significant mediation role between Tehran and Washington, with Qatar also participating in efforts that led to this week's agreement.
The conflict began on February 28 with US-Israeli strikes that killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several senior military commanders. Iran responded with missile and drone attacks, widening the regional conflict before an April truce reduced the intensity of hostilities.
Iran announced on Thursday that it had signed a deal with the United States to end the fighting, with both sides aiming to pursue further negotiations on a broader agreement that would also address Iran's long-disputed nuclear programme. While the Switzerland talks have been delayed, Mohsin Naqvi's visit underscores continued diplomatic efforts to sustain dialogue and advance a lasting settlement.
