Pakistan’s Game-Changing Z-10ME Helicopters Join Army Aviation, Boosting Combat Power
Pakistan inducts Chinese Z-10ME attack helicopters, boosting army combat capabilities.
Pakistan’s military modernization took a significant leap forward on Saturday with the induction of the state-of-the-art Z-10ME attack helicopter into the Pakistan Army Aviation Corps during a ceremony at Multan Garrison, approximately 550 kilometers from Islamabad. Presided over by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir, the event marked a pivotal enhancement of the army’s combat capabilities, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The Z-10ME, a Chinese-manufactured, all-weather platform, is designed for precision strike operations day or night. Equipped with advanced radar systems and cutting-edge electronic warfare suites, it significantly strengthens Pakistan’s ability to counter diverse aerial and ground threats.
Following the induction, COAS Munir witnessed a firepower demonstration at the Muzaffargarh Field Firing Ranges, showcasing the helicopter’s advanced targeting and maneuverability in simulated battlefield scenarios. The ISPR highlighted that the Z-10ME’s integration represents a “major leap” in modernizing Army Aviation, reinforcing its capacity to deliver decisive battlefield effects against potential adversaries.
While specific details, such as the number of helicopters acquired, were not disclosed, the induction aligns with Pakistan’s strategic shift toward Chinese defense systems, following stalled deals for U.S. and Turkish alternatives due to export restrictions.
At Corps Headquarters Multan, Munir was briefed on operational preparedness and training, expressing satisfaction with the troops’ high standards. He praised their morale, professionalism, and mastery of combined arms tactics, emphasizing the army’s resolve to maintain a decisive edge in evolving warfare dynamics.
