Pakistan Successfully Test-Fires Fatah-4 Cruise Missile With 750-Km Range, High Precision

Pakistan successfully tests the Fatah-4 cruise missile with a 750-km range and advanced terrain-hugging navigation system.

Pakistan on Friday announced the successful test firing of the Fatah-4 cruise missile, a long-range weapon system capable of striking targets up to 750 kilometers away with high precision. According to the Pakistani military, the missile is designed to evade advanced air defense systems through a terrain-hugging flight path maintained at a low altitude of around 50 meters. The launch marks another significant development in Pakistan’s expanding missile program and comes amid continuing regional security tensions and military modernization efforts across South Asia.

Pakistan’s military media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations, said the missile is equipped with advanced avionics and modern navigational systems intended to improve targeting accuracy and operational effectiveness. Officials stated the missile achieved a circular error probable, or CEP, of approximately five meters during the test, indicating a high level of precision. Military authorities added that the Fatah-4 is capable of engaging long-range targets while reducing vulnerability to enemy interception systems in hostile combat environments.

Senior Pakistani leaders praised the successful launch shortly after the test was announced. President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Army Chief Asim Munir reportedly congratulated scientists, engineers, and military personnel involved in the program. Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also praised the achievement in a statement posted on X, describing the missile test as a demonstration of the country’s growing defense capabilities and technological progress.

The latest launch follows a series of missile developments undertaken by Pakistan over the past two years. In September 2025, Pakistan tested another terrain-hugging missile system with a similar 750-kilometer range, while a training launch involving the Fateh-2 missile was conducted last month. The broader Fatah missile program has expanded rapidly since May 2024, when Pakistan tested a shorter-range 120-kilometer surface-to-surface variant during a period of heightened regional tensions. Defense analysts view the program as part of Islamabad’s broader strategy to strengthen long-range precision strike capabilities.

Cruise missiles such as the Fatah-4 are designed to travel at low altitudes and follow complex flight paths in order to avoid radar detection and interception by enemy defense systems. The ability to maintain a terrain-hugging trajectory significantly improves survivability during combat operations, particularly against sophisticated missile shields. Military experts say advances in guidance systems, avionics, and navigation technologies have made modern cruise missiles increasingly important in regional deterrence strategies and precision warfare doctrines.

The successful test is likely to attract attention from neighboring countries and international observers given the strategic importance of missile development in South Asia. Pakistan and India have both continued to modernize their military capabilities in recent years amid longstanding geopolitical tensions and evolving regional security challenges. While Pakistani officials described the launch as part of routine defense preparedness, the development is expected to contribute to ongoing discussions surrounding regional stability, deterrence, and the balance of military power in the region.
