Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif Offers to Host US-Iran Talks on Conflict

Sharif proposes a dialogue platform to ease escalating regional tensions.

Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday expressed Pakistan’s willingness to host diplomatic talks between the United States and Iran, amid escalating tensions in the Middle East. The offer was made through a public statement on social media, signalling Islamabad’s intent to play a mediating role in the ongoing conflict.

Sharif stated that Pakistan is prepared to facilitate dialogue between the two nations to help de-escalate the situation and seek a peaceful resolution. His remarks come at a time when hostilities involving the United States, Iran, and regional allies have intensified, raising concerns about broader instability in the region.

The Pakistani Prime Minister emphasised the importance of diplomacy and dialogue in resolving international conflicts, reiterating that negotiations remain the most effective path toward lasting peace. While no formal response has yet been reported from either Washington or Tehran, the proposal reflects Pakistan’s positioning as a potential intermediary in the crisis.

The conflict in the Middle East has seen a series of military actions and counter-actions in recent weeks, heightening global concerns over security, energy markets, and geopolitical stability. Analysts have warned that continued escalation could have far-reaching consequences beyond the region, impacting global trade and diplomatic relations.

Pakistan has historically maintained diplomatic ties with both the United States and Iran, allowing it to offer itself as a neutral platform for discussions. By extending this invitation, Islamabad appears to be leveraging its strategic relationships to contribute to de-escalation efforts.

While it remains uncertain whether the proposed talks will materialise, Sharif’s statement underscores the growing international push for dialogue and conflict resolution. The development adds to ongoing global efforts aimed at reducing tensions and preventing further escalation in an already volatile geopolitical landscape.
