Pakistan Army Loses 12 Soldiers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Anti-Terror Operations

Pakistan army loses 12 soldiers in anti-terror ops in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The Pakistan army announced that at least 12 soldiers and 35 terrorists, allegedly affiliated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), were killed in two separate operations conducted over the past four days in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military’s media wing, detailed the operations, which targeted TTP strongholds amid a surge in terrorist activities following the group’s termination of a ceasefire with the government in November 2022.

In Bajaur district, an intelligence-based operation resulted in the elimination of 22 TTP terrorists during an intense exchange of fire. A second operation in South Waziristan district saw 13 TTP terrorists neutralized, but at a heavy cost, with 12 soldiers losing their lives.

The ISPR reported the recovery of weapons and ammunition from the terrorists and alleged the involvement of Afghan nationals in these attacks, urging the Taliban government in Afghanistan to prevent its soil from being used for terrorism against Pakistan.

The military has launched sanitization operations to eliminate any remaining terrorists in the region. These operations reflect Pakistan’s ongoing struggle against escalating terrorism, with the TTP intensifying attacks since ending its ceasefire, posing significant challenges to national security.
