Not This Time! Kerala LOP Satheesan Tears into CM Vijayan, Demands Resignation
Satheesan to Vijayan: Resign or Face the Music Over Daughter’s Graft Scandal
Kerala’s Leader of Opposition V.D. Satheesan came out guns blazing Friday, April 4, 2025, demanding Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s resignation over a damning financial scandal ensnaring Vijayan’s daughter, Veena.
In a fiery press conference, Satheesan seized on a Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) charge sheet that lists Veena as the second accused in a Rs 2.70 crore payout from Cochin Minerals and Rutile Ltd (CMRL) for alleged mining favors. “This time, you will have to resign,” he declared, calling it a knockout punch to Vijayan’s credibility.
Satheesan tore into the CM, accusing him of hypocrisy and cover-up. “Your daughter took Rs 2.70 crore from CMRL for zero work—straight-up bribery.
You’ve slipped out of SNC Lavalin and gold smuggling before, but this is your own flesh and blood under PMLA. No dodging this,” he said. He flung CPI(M)’s own playbook back at them, recalling their clamor for ex-Railway Minister Pawan Bansal’s exit over a relative’s misdeeds. “Veena’s not some distant nephew—it’s your daughter. Where’s your party’s moral high ground now?” he jabbed, challenging CPI(M)’s top brass to act.
The SFIO probe, filed in a Kochi court, also implicates CMRL’s MD Sasidharan Kartha and Veena’s company, Exalogic, in the scam. With Congress rallies flaring statewide and BJP joining the fray, Vijayan’s dug in—but Satheesan’s betting on collapse. “If this were my kin, you’d bay for blood. Quit, or the people will force you out,” he warned, as Kerala’s political cauldron boils over.
