Nitin Nabin To Flag Off Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra From Pathankot

BJP begins statewide anti-drug campaign from Pathankot.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will launch its four-day ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra’ on September 18 from Pathankot, with senior party leaders scheduled to participate in the campaign across different parts of the state. The outreach programme will focus on the BJP’s campaign for a drug-free Punjab and seek to draw public attention to the issue of drug abuse, which remains a prominent concern in the state’s political discourse.

BJP National President Nitin Nabin will lead the opening leg of the yatra in Pathankot on September 18. The campaign will then move to Fatehgarh Sahib on September 19, where Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is scheduled to participate. The party has planned the programme as a state-wide outreach initiative, with its senior leaders taking part in different districts during the four-day campaign.

The yatra will reach Fazilka on September 20, with Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal scheduled to join the BJP’s activities there. The final leg will be held in Bathinda on September 21, where Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will participate. The four-day schedule will therefore cover Pathankot, Fatehgarh Sahib, Fazilka and Bathinda as the BJP takes its campaign to different parts of Punjab.

Through the yatra, the BJP is expected to highlight its approach towards tackling drug abuse and its vision for creating a drug-free Punjab. The party is also likely to use the programme to engage directly with residents in the districts covered by the campaign and raise awareness about the adverse impact of drug abuse. The participation of senior national leaders is intended to give greater political momentum to the initiative.

The issue of drugs has remained a major subject in Punjab’s political debate, with political parties repeatedly calling for stronger measures to address the problem. The BJP’s latest campaign is expected to combine its focus on the drug menace with broader public outreach and organisational mobilisation across the state.

The yatra will begin with Nitin Nabin in Pathankot on September 18, followed by Rekha Gupta in Fatehgarh Sahib on September 19, Arjun Ram Meghwal in Fazilka on September 20 and Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Bathinda on September 21. The party is expected to use the four-day programme to reiterate its commitment to combating drug abuse while strengthening its engagement with people across Punjab.
