A Nihang Singh was allegedly shot dead late Friday night during the ongoing Rakhar Punya fair at Baba Bakala Sahib Gurdwara in Amritsar, triggering panic amid a large gathering of devotees and visitors. The victim has been identified as Raja Singh, a resident of village Miglani. According to preliminary information, unidentified persons allegedly opened fire following a dispute, leaving Raja Singh dead.
Raja Singh had reportedly arrived at the religious fair wearing traditional Nihang attire when the incident took place. His body was later recovered from an isolated area behind Baba Bakala Civil Hospital. Police took the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem examination as investigators began examining the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Police have launched a search for the suspected attackers, who reportedly fled the area immediately after the firing. Investigators are scanning CCTV footage from cameras installed in and around the location to identify those involved. The exact circumstances leading to the shooting remain unclear, and police are examining different possible angles as part of the investigation.
