Nepal President Thanks India For ‘Generous Support’ Following Deadly Floods And Relief Efforts

Nepal President Ram Chandra Paudel on Saturday thanked India for its support and solidarity following the devastating flash floods that struck the Himalayan country on August 26. The disaster has killed 626 people, according to the information available, while rescue and relief operations continue in affected areas. India has been providing relief and rescue assistance to Nepal, with the third flight carrying aid arriving in Kathmandu on Friday. In a post on X, Paudel expressed gratitude to Indian President Droupadi Murmu for her concern and to the Indian government for the assistance extended after the disaster.

“On behalf of the Government and the people of Nepal, I extend our deepest gratitude to Your Excellency Smt Droupadi Murmu for your kind concern and also for the generous support and solidarity extended by your government following the recent calamity in Nepal,” he wrote. Paudel also offered condolences over the deaths of Indian nationals in Nepal following the flash floods. The expression of solidarity came as the two neighbouring countries continued to respond to the impact of the disaster, which has caused widespread devastation and resulted in a large number of deaths. The presence of Indian nationals among those affected has added another dimension to the tragedy for both countries.

India's relief response includes the deployment of assistance to support Nepal's ongoing rescue and recovery efforts. The third flight carrying relief materials reached Kathmandu on Friday, adding to supplies already sent by India.
