Naidu Govt Mired in Mega Corruption and Poor Governance: Jagan Mohan Reddy
Former CM Jagan Mohan Reddy claims high Amaravati costs, land giveaways and power purchase irregularities highlight widespread corruption.
Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on the Chandrababu Naidu-led Telugu Desam Party (TDP) government, accusing it of “mega corruption” and poor governance. Addressing the media in Amaravati, Reddy alleged that the present administration has failed to deliver on its promises and has instead burdened the state with questionable financial decisions.
Reddy claimed that the cost of developing Amaravati has exceeded that of building major cities such as Hyderabad and Bengaluru. He questioned the rationale behind what he described as excessive public spending, asking why such large sums of taxpayer money were being allocated without transparent justification. According to him, valuable land parcels were allotted to select real estate companies at throwaway prices, raising serious concerns over favouritism and misuse of public resources.
The YSRCP chief further accused the government of irregularities in power purchase agreements, terming them a major scam. He alleged that these deals were structured in a way that would ultimately increase the financial burden on the state and its citizens. Reddy claimed that several development projects announced by the current government exist only on paper and have not translated into tangible work on the ground.

Targeting the TDP government’s handling of development initiatives, Reddy said that repeated announcements were being made without actual implementation. He argued that this reflected poor administrative capacity and an attempt to mislead the public with headline-driven governance rather than real progress.
Reddy also accused the Naidu-led government of indulging in what he termed “credit chori” in the land resurvey programme. He said the previous YSRCP government had spent nearly ₹6,000 crore and deployed around 40,000 staff members to provide farmers with clear land titles using modern technology, a move he claimed was now being wrongly attributed to the present administration.
The Andhra Pradesh government has not yet issued an official response to Reddy’s allegations. Political observers note that the exchange highlights growing tensions between the ruling TDP and the opposition YSRCP, with governance, development costs, and transparency emerging as key issues ahead of future political battles in the state.
