Speaking at the unveiling, Stalin described the occasion as a “lifetime honour,” emphasizing that Periyar’s rationalist ideals now resonate worldwide from an institution synonymous with knowledge and human rights. “The Self-Respect Movement shattered fundamentalisms, awakened dignity, and nurtured scientific temper, making us a guiding light of social transformation,” he stated in a post on X.
Stalin underscored the movement’s role in challenging centuries of subjugation, positioning it as a beacon for global social justice and a catalyst for empowering marginalized communities. The Chief Minister, identifying as an heir to Periyar’s legacy, expressed pride in honoring a revolution that continues to inspire. “We aren’t just celebrating history; we are guiding tomorrow,” he added.
