Missing Indian Student Saketh Sreenivasaiah Found Dead in US
Indian student Saketh Sreenivasaiah from UC Berkeley found dead after going missing in the US.
A 22-year-old Indian postgraduate student, Saketh Sreenivasaiah, who had been reported missing in the United States earlier this week, has been found dead, authorities confirmed. Saketh, a native of Karnataka, was pursuing a Master of Science degree at the University of California, Berkeley. He had been missing since Monday, prompting concern among friends, family, and the Indian community.
The Consulate General of India, San Francisco confirmed the tragic development in a statement posted on X on Saturday (local time). “The Consulate deeply regrets to inform that local police have confirmed the recovery of the body of the missing Indian student, Saketh Sreenivasaiah,” the statement read. The announcement brought a sorrowful conclusion to days of uncertainty.
Extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, the Consulate assured full support in coordinating with local authorities and facilitating the repatriation of the mortal remains to India at the earliest. Officials stated that consular officers are in direct contact with the family and are assisting them with all necessary formalities and procedures during this difficult time.

According to media reports, Saketh’s backpack — containing his passport and laptop — was discovered on a doorstep in the Park Hills neighbourhood.
