The Miss Grand International 2025 pageant concluded on a glitzy note in Bangkok, but it was an unexpected mix-up involving Miss Panama, Isamar Herrera, that became the night’s most talked-about moment. During the announcement of the top 20 finalists, Herrera confidently stepped forward, believing her country had been called — only to realise seconds later that she had misheard the name.
As host Matthew Deane corrected the moment on stage, saying, “I beg your pardon, I announced Miss Grand Paraguay,” the bustling venue momentarily fell into confusion before bursting into applause and laughter. The crowd’s overwhelming excitement and the noisy atmosphere were cited as reasons behind the misunderstanding.
Despite the awkward blunder, Herrera handled the situation gracefully. Later, in an Instagram Live session, she explained, “It was my mistake because I heard Panama. A live broadcast feels different. We were behind the stage, full of excitement, and I reacted naturally. When the camera came toward me, I thought it was my turn — it’s no big deal.” Her composed response quickly won praise from fans online.

The Internet, meanwhile, exploded with reactions, with users calling it both “cringe-worthy and adorable.” One fan wrote, “That’s a tough break — viral fame for all the wrong reasons,” while another added, “Honestly, I couldn’t even tell what the host said. Anyone could’ve made that mistake.”
Despite the brief confusion, the grand finale proceeded smoothly, with the Philippines’ Emma Tiglao taking home the Miss Grand International 2025 crown. Rounding off the top five were Sarunrat Puagpipat of Thailand, who finished second runner-up, Aitana Jiménez of Spain, Ghana’s Faith Porter, and Venezuela’s Nariman Battikha. But in the end, it was Miss Panama’s brief “oops” moment that went viral — making her an overnight Internet sensation beyond the pageant stage.
