Microsoft 365 Down for Thousands as North America Services Face Disruption

Microsoft 365 services faced a significant disruption on Thursday, leaving thousands of users unable to access key productivity tools. The outage affected multiple services within Microsoft’s software suite, prompting widespread complaints from individuals and businesses that rely heavily on the platform for daily operations.
According to outage tracking website Downdetector.com, more than 13,100 users reported issues with Microsoft 365 at the peak of the disruption. Downdetector compiles outage data from various sources, including real-time user reports, indicating a sharp spike in service-related complaints during the incident.
Microsoft acknowledged the issue in a statement posted on its official status page on social media platform X. The company said it was investigating a potential problem impacting multiple services after identifying a portion of its service infrastructure in North America that was not processing traffic as expected.

The tech giant noted that the reported figures on Downdetector may not fully reflect the actual scale of the outage, as the platform relies on user-submitted reports. As a result, the number of affected users could be higher or lower than publicly indicated.
The disruption caused inconvenience to users who depend on Microsoft 365 applications such as Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel for communication and productivity. Several users took to social media to express frustration over interrupted workflows and delayed tasks.
Microsoft said it was working to mitigate the issue and restore services as quickly as possible, though no specific timeline for full resolution was immediately shared. The company continues to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as the investigation progresses.
