Mass Protests Erupt After Woman Shot Dead by ICE Agent

Minneapolis erupts as ICE officer kills local woman on streets.

A US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer shot and killed a woman in Minneapolis on Wednesday, triggering massive protests and condemnation from local officials who rejected federal claims labeling the victim as a domestic terrorist. The woman, identified as 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good, was reportedly shot at point-blank range while attempting to drive away from ICE agents who had surrounded her vehicle.

Video footage of the incident shows a masked ICE agent firing three shots into Good’s SUV, which then lost control and collided with parked cars. Onlookers witnessed the bloodied body slumped inside the vehicle, prompting immediate outrage across the city. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey publicly denounced the federal government’s characterization of the victim and demanded ICE withdraw from his city.

The Trump administration claimed Good had tried to run over agents, while Department of Homeland Security (DHS) chief Kristi Noem described the event as “domestic terrorism.” Governor Tim Walz, however, called the federal narrative “propaganda” and vowed a thorough investigation, emphasizing the need for accountability and transparency in the handling of the incident.

Thousands of protesters took to Minneapolis streets, holding signs such as “ICE Out of MPLS,” reflecting widespread anger over immigration enforcement policies. DHS has expanded ICE’s workforce in recent months, drawing criticism for insufficient training and aggressive tactics amid growing concerns about civilian safety during immigration operations.

Witnesses described a chaotic and grisly scene, including bystanders attempting to assist Good and a surviving passenger covered in blood. The shooting comes amid heightened scrutiny of ICE operations nationwide, as federal authorities continue efforts to deport undocumented migrants while local leaders and activists call for stricter oversight and accountability for agents involved in lethal incidents.
