London Police Probe Arson on Hatzola Ambulances as Antisemitic Hate Crime in Golders Green

London police investigate arson on four Jewish volunteer ambulances as an antisemitic hate crime.

British police are investigating an apparent arson attack on ambulances belonging to a Jewish emergency service, in what authorities have described as an antisemitic hate crime. The incident took place in Golders Green, an area known for its large Jewish population, where four vehicles operated by Hatzola Northwest were set on fire in the early hours of Monday.

According to the London Fire Brigade, multiple cylinders inside the ambulances exploded during the blaze, causing damage to nearby residential buildings, including shattered windows in an adjacent block of flats. No injuries were reported, and the fire was eventually brought under control.

Police confirmed that the case is being treated as a suspected hate crime, with Superintendent Sarah Jackson stating that the incident would cause “significant concern” within the community. Officers have increased patrols in the area while conducting urgent inquiries, though no arrests have been made so far.

Authorities also evacuated nearby homes as a precaution after reports of explosions linked to gas canisters inside the vehicles. Investigators are working to determine the exact cause of the fire and whether it was a targeted attack.

The incident comes amid a broader rise in antisemitic incidents across the United Kingdom since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas conflict in 2023. Community groups have reported a sharp increase in such cases in recent years, raising concerns over safety and communal harmony.
