LG and CUSAT Team Up for Cutting-Edge Smart Home Lab

LG Soft India, the innovation hub of LG Electronics, has teamed up with Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) to establish a state-of-the-art smart home technology research laboratory on the university’s campus in Kochi. This pioneering collaboration aims to redefine the future of connected living by tackling key challenges in the fast-growing smart home industry.

With a funding commitment of Rs 1 crore over three years, CUSAT will develop the advanced facility, equipped with cutting-edge tools and resources to drive innovation. “This partnership empowers us to create a dedicated space for groundbreaking research in smart home solutions,” said Dr. Santhosh Kumar G, Professor of Computer Science and Director of CUSAT’s Centre for Information Resource Management.

The lab will focus on resolving connectivity issues that plague the smart home ecosystem, enabling seamless interaction among diverse Internet of Things (IoT) devices, regardless of brand. By addressing this fragmentation, the initiative aims to deliver a cohesive and dependable user experience. Additionally, the lab will harness Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to create intelligent systems that anticipate user preferences, automate routine tasks, and offer personalized, intuitive interactions.
