Kuwait Says Drones Originating In Iraq Targeted Border Installations
Kuwait reports drones from Iraq targeting border posts
Kuwait has reported that drones originating from Iraq targeted its northern border posts, in what authorities described as a “criminal” and “aggressive” attack amid rising regional tensions. The incident marks the latest escalation in a volatile security environment linked to broader Middle East conflicts.
According to Kuwait’s Ministry of Defence, at least two explosive-laden drones struck land border positions along the country’s northern frontier. The drones were reportedly guided using fibre-optic systems and launched from Iraqi territory, causing material damage but no casualties.
Military officials said the attack occurred early in the day and targeted multiple border installations. While infrastructure damage was confirmed, authorities emphasised that no personnel were injured and that emergency measures were immediately activated to secure the area.

No group has claimed responsibility for the strike so far, and there has been no immediate response from Iraq. However, analysts note that Iran-aligned militias operate within Iraqi territory and have previously launched drone attacks across the region, particularly during the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.
The attack comes despite ongoing ceasefire efforts in the region, raising fresh concerns about the fragility of de-escalation attempts. Kuwait has faced multiple drone and missile threats in recent months, including strikes on infrastructure and military-linked facilities as part of the broader regional confrontation.
Authorities in Kuwait have condemned the incident and are continuing investigations while strengthening border security. The development underscores growing fears that cross-border drone warfare could further destabilise the Gulf region if tensions persist.
