Kuwait Petroleum Corp HQ Catches Fire After Iranian Drone Strike; Oil Ministry Evacuated
Iranian drones strike Kuwait Petroleum headquarters, forcing evacuation of oil ministry staff.
A major escalation in regional tensions unfolded after a drone strike, reportedly linked to Iran, set ablaze the headquarters of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation in Kuwait City. The building, which also houses the country’s oil ministry, was evacuated immediately, with emergency crews rushing to contain the fire.
According to an official statement from Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, firefighting teams were deployed swiftly, and all necessary precautions were taken to ensure the safety of employees and secure the site. Authorities said the oil sector leadership is closely assessing the extent of the damage in coordination with relevant agencies.
The drone strike is part of a broader wave of aerial attacks targeting critical infrastructure in Kuwait. Recent incidents have also hit key facilities such as the Mina Al-Ahmadi Refinery and Mina Abdullah Refinery, along with repeated assaults on the country’s airport, raising concerns about the vulnerability of essential energy assets in the region.

Hours before the attack, Iran’s semi-official Fars news agency reportedly released an updated list of potential targets, including power, water, and industrial infrastructure. The developments come amid heightened hostilities following an earlier strike by the Israeli Air Force on Iran’s Mahshahr Petrochemical Complex, signalling a widening conflict across the Gulf region.
The latest strike underscores growing instability in the energy-rich Persian Gulf, with geopolitical tensions increasingly spilling over into direct attacks on critical infrastructure. While authorities continue to monitor the situation, the incident has intensified global concerns over oil supply security and the broader implications for regional stability.
