Kudumbashree Tribal Leaders Travel To Rashtrapati Bhavan

Kudumbashree tribal leaders visit Rashtrapati Bhavan, fulfilling dream journey.

A group of tribal leaders from Kerala’s Kudumbashree network recently had the opportunity to visit the Rashtrapati Bhavan, fulfilling a long‑cherished dream and marking a symbolic recognition of their contributions to community development and women’s empowerment. The visit was organised as part of an initiative to expose grassroots leaders to national institutions and governance processes.

The delegation, comprising women leaders from tribal communities across Kerala, was welcomed at the Presidential residence and given a guided tour of the historic premises. They also attended an interactive session where they discussed their experiences running micro-enterprises, self-help groups, and community projects under the Kudumbashree programme.

Kudumbashree, the state’s flagship women empowerment and poverty eradication initiative, has been instrumental in creating livelihood opportunities for women, particularly from marginalized communities. Tribal leaders highlighted their success in areas such as handicrafts, agriculture, and small-scale entrepreneurship, which have contributed to socio-economic development in their regions.

During the visit, participants had the chance to engage with officials and share their perspectives on grassroots challenges, including access to credit, market linkages, and skill development. Many expressed that the experience of being at the Rashtrapati Bhavan was inspiring and motivational, encouraging them to expand their initiatives back home.

The initiative also aimed to strengthen ties between tribal communities and central governance institutions, offering a platform for these leaders to voice their concerns and aspirations. Officials noted that such interactions help bridge gaps between policy-making and on-ground implementation of development programs.

The visit concluded with a pledge by the tribal leaders to continue their efforts in empowering women, fostering community development, and promoting sustainable livelihoods. Observers said that the journey to the Rashtrapati Bhavan serves as both a recognition of their achievements and a morale booster for other grassroots leaders across the country.
