Karoline Leavitt To Step Down As Trump’s Press Secretary At Month-End

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt will step down from her role at the end of August, President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday, saying she would spend more time with her young children and family while continuing to serve as one of his senior outside advisers. Trump described Leavitt, 28, as “one of my most trusted aides” and praised her role in his administration. He said she would remain a senior adviser after leaving the White House press secretary position and would continue to have an influential role within the Republican Party.

Leavitt became the youngest person to serve as a White House press secretary and developed a reputation for forceful and often combative exchanges with journalists during press briefings. She emerged as a staunch defender of Trump, frequently pushing back against questions and criticism directed at the president and his administration. Her tenure also coincided with several significant moments for the Trump administration. In May, Leavitt announced the birth of her second child, a daughter named Viviana.
