Kamala Harris Says She Is Considering Another Presidential Run In 2028

Kamala Harris says she is considering a 2028 presidential run after losing the 2024 election.

Former Vice President Kamala Harris said she is considering another run for the presidency in 2028, signaling a potential return to national electoral politics after her defeat in the 2024 election. Harris made the remarks on Friday during an appearance at an event hosted by the National Action Network.

Speaking at the gathering founded by civil rights leader Al Sharpton, Harris responded to a direct question about her political future with cautious openness. “I might, I might. I’m thinking about it, I’m thinking about it,” she said, drawing cheers from the audience. She added that any decision would ultimately depend on who she believes is best positioned to serve the American people in the next presidential election.

Harris, who served as vice president under Joe Biden, was the Democratic Party’s nominee in the 2024 presidential race. She lost the election to Donald Trump, who secured both the popular vote and the Electoral College, marking a significant political setback for Democrats.

Before her vice presidency, Harris built a long career in public service, including roles as a U.S. senator from California and the state’s attorney general. She had also previously sought the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020 but did not advance to become the party’s candidate that year.

A potential 2028 campaign could present challenges for Harris, particularly amid indications from some voters that they are seeking new leadership within the Democratic Party following the 2024 loss. Political analysts suggest that party dynamics and voter sentiment will play a critical role in shaping the field of candidates.

The National Action Network event also attracted several figures widely viewed as possible Democratic contenders, including Josh Shapiro, Pete Buttigieg, and JB Pritzker. Their presence underscored the early positioning and speculation already underway ahead of the 2028 presidential race.
