#JUSTIN: Iranian Drone Strike Triggers Massive Fire, Halts All Flights at Dubai Airport

Iranian drone struck a fuel tank near Dubai Airport, forcing temporary flight suspension.

A major fire broke out near Dubai International Airport on Monday after a drone strike reportedly hit a fuel storage tank in the area, prompting emergency services to rush to the scene and authorities to temporarily suspend flight operations. The incident triggered safety alerts across the vicinity of the airport, one of the world’s busiest international travel hubs. Officials said the blaze was quickly contained by emergency responders, and no injuries were reported. However, the situation briefly disrupted airport operations and raised renewed concerns about the security of critical infrastructure in the Gulf region amid the ongoing Middle East conflict.

According to authorities, teams from Dubai Civil Defence were deployed immediately after the drone-related incident was reported near the airport. Firefighters worked rapidly to control the flames after the impact affected a fuel tank located close to the airport’s operational zone. Officials later confirmed that the blaze had been brought under control and that the emergency response had successfully prevented the fire from spreading to other nearby facilities. Safety measures were activated across the surrounding area to protect airport personnel, travelers, and nearby infrastructure while response teams secured the site.

In an official statement posted on social media, the Dubai Media Office confirmed that the drone incident had caused damage to a fuel tank in the vicinity of the airport. Authorities said the fire was contained shortly after firefighters arrived at the scene. Officials emphasized that no casualties were reported and that emergency protocols were implemented immediately to ensure public safety. Residents and airport staff in nearby areas were advised to remain alert and follow official instructions as response teams completed their operations and assessed any potential damage.

Following the incident, the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority announced a temporary suspension of flights at the airport as a precautionary measure. Travelers were advised to contact their airlines for updated flight information while authorities worked to restore normal operations. Some flights scheduled to land at Dubai International Airport were diverted to Al Maktoum International Airport, another major aviation hub in the emirate. The move was intended to ensure the safety of passengers and airport personnel while emergency teams managed the situation.

Local law enforcement also took steps to secure the surrounding area following the drone strike. Dubai Police closed airport access roads and the nearby airport tunnel to prevent congestion and allow emergency vehicles to move freely. Officials urged the public to rely only on verified government updates regarding the situation. Authorities also reminded residents that the area remained under monitoring as investigators worked to determine the exact circumstances of the drone strike and evaluate the level of damage caused to the affected facility.

The incident occurred against the backdrop of a wider regional conflict, during which officials say Iran has launched more than 1,800 missiles and drones targeting the United Arab Emirates since hostilities escalated. According to government sources, the UAE has become one of the most heavily targeted nations during the ongoing tensions. Although most incoming projectiles have reportedly been intercepted by air defense systems, several attacks have disrupted aviation and critical infrastructure in the Gulf. The UAE’s defense ministry has reported six deaths since the conflict began, including four civilians and two military personnel, though the military deaths were linked to a helicopter crash caused by a technical issue.
