#JUSTIN: Iran Fires Missiles and Rockets Across Gulf in Response to U.S.–Israel Attacks

Iran launches missiles and rockets across Gulf in retaliation for U.S. and Israeli military strikes on Iran.

Iran launched a series of ballistic missile and drone attacks across the Gulf region in retaliation for coordinated military strikes by the United States and Israel on Iranian targets earlier this weekend. Explosions were reported in Abu Dhabi, and state authorities confirmed that multiple Iranian missiles were intercepted by UAE air defences. One civilian was killed in the capital after falling interceptor fragments hit a residential area, officials said. The country’s airspace was partially closed as a precaution.

In the United Arab Emirates’ Dubai, loud explosions were also heard, including in proximity to key infrastructure around the emirate’s airports, according to eyewitness and news reports. The precise cause of some of the blasts remains under investigation, though they correlate with the timeline of Iran’s retaliatory strikes.

In Qatar, several Iranian missiles were reportedly fired toward the Doha area and neighboring military installations. Qatar’s defence ministry and allied sources stated that Patriot surface-to-air systems intercepted incoming threats, including over the strategically significant Al Udeid Air Base, which hosts U.S. Central Command forces. Civilian damage or casualties were not immediately confirmed there.

Across the Gulf, explosions were also reported in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia — where missiles or warheads detonated in the vicinity of the capital. Details on damage and casualties are still emerging, but local officials warned residents to shelter as air defence systems engaged incoming threats.

Separately, Iranian forces targeted U.S. military installations in Bahrain and Kuwait, striking the headquarters of the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet and other bases, in what Tehran described as part of its “retaliatory operations.” Governments throughout the region have closed or restricted airspace and issued safety advisories as the conflict risk broadening.

These developments mark one of the most significant escalations in the Middle East in recent years, with Iran signalling that all American and Israeli assets in the region are legitimate targets while Gulf states reinforce air defences and monitor the situation closely.
