#JustIn: Elon Musk Launches ‘Grokipedia’: xAI’s Bold Answer to Wikipedia
Elon Musk’s xAI introduces Grokipedia, a platform aiming to counter Wikipedia’s alleged bias and redefine online knowledge-sharing.
xAI, the artificial intelligence company founded by Elon Musk, has launched Grokipedia, an AI-powered encyclopedia designed as a Wikipedia alternative. The platform went live in the early hours of October 28, 2025, at grokipedia.com, offering users access to fact-based, politically neutral information processed through advanced AI models. Running on version 0.1, Grokipedia currently hosts around 885,000 articles and combines primary sources with community data, curated and refined by xAI’s proprietary algorithms to ensure accuracy and objectivity.
The launch follows Musk’s repeated public criticisms of Wikipedia, which he has accused of harbouring politically motivated content and editorial bias. In posts on X (formerly Twitter), Musk highlighted perceived ideological slants in Wikipedia entries, framing Grokipedia as a direct response. xAI positions the platform as a more reliable knowledge resource, though early entries—such as one detailing Musk’s 20 kg weight loss—have sparked mixed reactions regarding tone and consistency.
Unlike conversational AI tools such as ChatGPT or xAI’s own Grok, Grokipedia restricts user interaction to targeted subject searches rather than open-ended queries. The system is built for precision, delivering structured, sourced responses without dialogue. Musk has described the current version as a starting point, with a significantly improved 1.0 release expected to deliver “10x better results” through enhanced processing and potentially broader functionality.

To use Grokipedia, visit grokipedia.com in any web browser. Enter the name of a person, place, event, or concept—such as “Barcelona”, “quantum computing”, or “Elon Musk”—into the search bar and press Enter. The platform will generate a detailed, AI-curated article with cited sources. No account is required for basic access, and results load instantly, though the site experienced brief downtime shortly after launch due to high traffic.
This debut marks xAI’s expansion beyond chat-based AI into structured knowledge delivery, challenging traditional encyclopedia models. While still in early development, Grokipedia reflects Musk’s broader push to reshape digital information ecosystems with AI-driven neutrality and transparency. Future updates are expected to refine content depth, user experience, and scalability as the platform evolves.
