Jaishankar, Cooper reaffirm decade-long superpower partnership.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held high-level talks with UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper on the sidelines of the G7 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Canada’s Niagara region on Wednesday, where both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the ambitious India-UK Vision 2035 roadmap designed to elevate bilateral ties into a comprehensive global partnership over the next decade.
Jaishankar described the meeting as a reflection of the “positive momentum” in India-UK relations, emphasizing that Vision 2035 will serve as a time-bound blueprint for accelerated cooperation across five critical pillars: economy and growth, technology and innovation, defence and security, climate action, and education. The framework aims to harness emerging opportunities and technological advancements to build a skilled, future-ready workforce capable of tackling global challenges.
At the core of this vision lies a strategic intellectual partnership that will deepen collaboration in research, higher education, and innovation ecosystems between the two nations. By fostering joint initiatives in cutting-edge fields, India and the UK intend to create a robust talent pipeline equipped to drive sustainable development, enhance national security, and lead climate resilience efforts on the world stage.
