Jailed Imran Khan Accuses Pakistan Courts of Inhumane Treatment of Wife Bushra Bibi
Imran Khan accuses Pakistan judges of isolating his wife, Bushra Bibi, to blackmail him in detention.
Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has strongly criticised the country’s judiciary, accusing it of allowing “inhumane treatment” of his wife, Bushra Bibi, during her detention. Khan alleged that authorities are targeting her in an attempt to pressure and “blackmail” him amid his ongoing legal battles.
The remarks were conveyed through his son following a conversation over the Eid weekend, with Khan expressing anger over what he described as repeated failures of the judicial system. He accused judges of acting for “personal gain” and claimed that despite multiple legal appeals, no relief had been granted.
Khan further alleged that Bushra Bibi is being held in complete isolation, with only limited and often restricted access for meetings. According to his claims, she is allowed just brief weekly interactions, which are sometimes denied, raising concerns about her treatment in custody.

The former prime minister, who has been imprisoned since August 2023 on multiple charges, is also facing serious health issues. Recently, he underwent medical examination following reports of significant vision loss in one eye, drawing attention from both domestic and international observers.
Several prominent cricketers, including Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev, have reportedly urged the Government of Pakistan to ensure that Khan is treated with dignity and provided basic human care while in custody.
While authorities maintain that Khan’s detention is strictly a legal matter, the allegations and his deteriorating health have intensified political tensions in Pakistan, with the situation continuing to draw scrutiny both within the country and internationally.
