Israel Prepared To Renew Iran War, Awaiting US Approval: Defence Minister
Israel signals readiness for renewed war with Iran.
Israel has signalled readiness to escalate its conflict with Iran, with Defence Minister Israel Katz stating that the country is prepared to “renew the war” but is awaiting a green light from the United States. The remarks came following a high-level security assessment, indicating that military plans are in place and could be activated swiftly depending on Washington’s decision.
Katz said the Israeli military, or Israel Defense Forces (IDF), is fully prepared for both offensive and defensive operations, with targets already identified. He emphasised that any renewed military campaign would be significantly more intense than previous actions, suggesting a shift toward more decisive and potentially broader strikes against Iranian assets.
According to the minister, Israel’s strategic objectives include severely weakening Iran’s leadership and infrastructure. He indicated that future strikes could focus on critical sectors such as energy and electricity, aiming to undermine the country’s economic and operational capabilities. Katz also used strong rhetoric against Iran’s leadership, accusing it of internal repression and regional destabilisation.

The development comes amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East, despite a ceasefire arrangement involving the United States and Iran earlier this month. While diplomatic efforts have continued, the fragile truce has been marked by intermittent hostilities and growing uncertainty over whether negotiations can prevent further escalation.
Regional dynamics remain volatile, with Israel also engaged in conflict with Iran-backed groups such as Hezbollah in Lebanon. Analysts suggest that any renewed direct confrontation between Israel and Iran could have far-reaching consequences, including disruptions to global energy markets and broader geopolitical instability.
The United States’ position is seen as pivotal in determining the next phase of the conflict. While Washington has publicly supported de-escalation and extended ceasefire efforts, it has also signalled readiness to respond militarily if required, leaving the situation delicately balanced between diplomacy and renewed war.
