Iran Reportedly Considers Ground Action Against US Bases In Kuwait

Iran may be considering the possibility of a ground operation against US military installations in Kuwait if Washington continues its reported air campaign against Tehran, according to statements cited in multiple reports. The claims have emerged from remarks by an Iranian analyst and a former Iranian foreign minister, though no official decision or military directive from Tehran has been announced.

Kuwait hosts several major US military facilities, including Camp Buehring, Camp Arifjan and Ali Al Salem Air Base. These locations have been described as important components of the American military presence in the Gulf region and have reportedly faced missile and drone attacks since tensions between Iran and the US escalated.

Iranian analyst Mahdi Khanalizadeh was quoted as suggesting that a possible ground operation could involve targeting American bases and capturing US personnel. He reportedly claimed that such an action could include taking around 100 American soldiers hostage and moving them into Iranian territory, while warning of broader regional consequences if the conflict expands.

The analyst also warned Gulf countries hosting or supporting US military operations that they could face increased risks if hostilities continue. He said continued American strikes could lead to a wider confrontation, though his remarks represent the views of an individual commentator and not an officially announced Iranian government position.

Former Iranian foreign minister Manouchehr Mottaki, who is currently a member of Iran’s parliament, was also reported to have discussed the possibility of a ground assault against a US base as a means of capturing American personnel. Reports further cited warnings that countries assisting the US in any ground invasion of Iran could face retaliation from Tehran.

However, there has been no confirmed statement from Iran’s government or armed forces announcing plans for a ground incursion into Kuwait or any other country. The reported remarks come amid heightened tensions in the region, with officials and analysts warning that further military escalation could have wider security and economic consequences across the Gulf.
