IndiGo’s Surat-Dubai Flight Diverted to Ahmedabad After Mid-Air Technical Snag
150 passengers safe after IndiGo flight diversion
An IndiGo flight from Surat to Dubai carrying about 150 passengers was diverted to Ahmedabad on Thursday morning following a mid-air technical glitch, airport officials confirmed.
The aircraft departed from Surat at around 9:30 am but was rerouted to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad, where it landed safely around 11 am. “This was not an emergency landing. The diversion was precautionary after the crew detected a technical issue,” said an SVPI airport official.

IndiGo swiftly arranged an alternative aircraft for passengers, which departed for Dubai at approximately 1:45 pm. Meanwhile, the affected plane is undergoing inspection by engineers to determine the cause of the malfunction.The airline reiterated that passenger safety was never compromised during the incident.
The prompt diversion and arrangements ensured minimal disruption, though it added another reminder of the operational challenges India’s aviation sector continues to face amid rising traffic and expanding fleets.
