Indian Terrorist Harpreet Singh Arrested by FBI in US
FBI Arrests Indian Terror Suspect Harpreet Singh in US for Punjab Attacks
The FBI, in coordination with US Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), arrested Harpreet Singh, alias Happy Passia, in Sacramento, California, on Friday, for his alleged role in multiple terror attacks in Punjab, India.
The FBI labeled Singh, who entered the US illegally in 2021, an “alleged terrorist” linked to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and the Khalistani terrorist group Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).
FBI Sacramento announced on X: “Today, Harpreet Singh, responsible for terror attacks in Punjab, India, was arrested by the #FBI & #ERO in Sacramento. Linked to two international terrorist groups, he used burner phones to evade capture.”

The agency’s New Delhi Legal Attaché office flagged Singh’s involvement in attacks, including a September 2024 grenade attack on a retired Punjab Police officer’s residence in Chandigarh’s Sector 10/D.
Singh, a native of Ajnala tehsil, Amritsar, faces charges in 17 criminal cases in India, including under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Arms Act, with 12 cases filed between November 2022 and April 2024. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had announced a Rs 5 lakh reward for his capture in January 2025.
He allegedly collaborated with Pakistan-based terrorist Harwinder Singh Sandhu (Rinda), providing funds, weapons, and logistics for attacks.
Using burner phones and encrypted apps, Singh evaded authorities after illegally crossing into the US via Mexico. His arrest, following months of NIA and Punjab Police investigations, underscores the critical role of international cooperation in countering transnational terrorism.
