Indian Stranded in Saudi Returns Home
Embassy secures exit for Shavej Hamid
Shavej Hamid, an Indian national stranded in Saudi Arabia due to financial liabilities, is finally returning home to reunite with his family, thanks to the Indian Embassy in Riyadh’s intervention. Hospitalized for four months following a severe accident, Hamid faced an exit ban due to substantial unpaid dues, which blocked his departure from the Kingdom.
The embassy, in a statement posted on X on Saturday, August 23, detailed its efforts to secure Hamid’s exit clearance. “Despite facing an exit ban due to substantial dues, the Embassy’s intervention ensured that most of these were waived, and we also facilitated the payment of his government fines,” the post read. The embassy worked closely with Saudi medical authorities to ensure Hamid received proper care during his hospitalization.
This diplomatic success highlights the embassy’s ongoing efforts to support Indian expatriates facing legal and financial challenges in Saudi Arabia. Hamid’s return marks a significant victory for the Indian community, with social media posts celebrating the embassy’s role in resolving such cases. The Indian Embassy continues to assist stranded citizens through its digital systems for final exit visas.
