Indian Navy's INS Ranvijay Makes Port Call At Oman's Salalah

Indian Navy's frontline destroyer INS Ranvijay made a port call at Salalah in Oman as part of its ongoing deployment, highlighting the maritime ties and longstanding friendship between India and Oman. During the visit, the ship participated in professional engagements with Oman's RNOV Sadh and took part in a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with the Royal Navy of Oman off Salalah.

The Indian Navy said the commanding officer of INS Ranvijay called on the Commander of Oman's Southern Naval Area. The port call also included professional interactions between the Indian Navy destroyer and RNOV Sadh. The PASSEX conducted off Salalah provided an opportunity for the two navies to undertake coordinated maritime activities and further strengthen their operational engagement.

The Indian Navy described the engagements as reflecting the enduring friendship and maritime relationship between India and Oman. The port call is part of INS Ranvijay's ongoing deployment and comes amid continued defence and security cooperation between the two countries. Both sides have maintained regular interactions involving their armed forces and maritime institutions.

Earlier this month, a high-level delegation from India's National Defence College (NDC) concluded a Strategic Neighbourhood Study Tour to Oman. Led by Air Vice Marshal Manish Vasantkumar Patel, Senior Directing Staff (Air) at NDC India, the delegation held meetings with a range of authorities and institutions in Muscat as part of its engagements with the country.

The delegation visited Majlis A'Dawla and Majlis A'Shura and interacted with members of the Oman Council. It also met Vice Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis Al Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultan's Armed Forces, with discussions covering mutual security interests and broader India-Oman defence cooperation. The delegation also met Rear Admiral Ali Abdullah Al Shidi, Commandant of the National Defence College in Oman, to discuss bilateral issues, including training and academic collaboration.

Other engagements included discussions with the Diplomatic Academy of Oman and the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones. The delegation also visited the Shabab Oman II ship and received a briefing on its civilisational, cultural and diplomatic roles, as well as its international participation. The Indian Embassy in Oman described the visit as an important high-level interaction that reinforced the two countries' shared commitment to peace, prosperity and regional stability.
