Indian missions worldwide celebrated India’s 79th Independence Day on Friday, August 15, 2025, with flag-hoisting ceremonies, cultural performances, and messages of unity, reflecting the same patriotic zeal as in India. From Tel Aviv to Singapore, Colombo, Tokyo, Beijing, the Maldives, and Shanghai, the Indian diaspora gathered to honor the nation’s freedom and reaffirm their commitment to its progress.
In Tel Aviv, Ambassador JP Singh hoisted the tricolour before approximately 350 Indian community members, highlighting the deepening strategic partnership between India and Israel. “As democracies with shared values, both nations stand together in crises,” Singh said, commending the 40,000-strong Indian community and the Indian Jewish diaspora as a vital link between the two countries. The event featured cultural performances by local Indian talent.
In Singapore, High Commissioner Shilpak Ambule delivered President Droupadi Murmu’s address to 800 diaspora members, accompanied by an exhibition on India’s fight against terrorism. “Operation Sindoor reflects our firm stance: we will not differentiate between terrorists and their sponsors,” Ambule told PTI. The mission honored Indian migrant workers for their heroic rescues, including saving children from a fire in April and a driver from a sinkhole in July. Students from Indian schools performed patriotic songs and traditional dances.
