India-US Discuss West Asia, Defence, and Technology Ties During Misri Visit

India, US review West Asia crisis and defence, tech ties.

India and the United States reviewed developments in West Asia, defence cooperation, and technology partnerships during Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri’s three-day visit to Washington. The talks aimed to stabilise bilateral ties after a period of strain, including trade frictions and differences over regional security issues.

Misri held discussions with Elbridge Colby at the Pentagon, continuing the momentum of India-US defence exchanges following Colby’s recent visit to New Delhi on the sidelines of the India-US Defence Policy Group meeting. The two reviewed ongoing developments in the Indo-Pacific and West Asia.

He also met Mike Duffey to strengthen defence industrial, technology, and supply chain linkages under the framework of the bilateral Major Defence Partnership signed last year.

At the Department of Commerce, Misri held talks with Jeffrey Kessler and William Kimmitt on expanding cooperation in commercial and critical technologies, and discussed building resilient and trusted supply chains vital for the 21st-century India-US partnership.

Concurrently, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, on an official visit to the US, visited Peterson Space Force Base and met with General Gregory M. Guillot to exchange views on operational matters and the growing defence partnership.

The visit underscores India and the US’s efforts to deepen collaboration across defence, technology, and regional security, even amid challenges in trade and strategic alignments.
