India-Russia Partnership In Focus As Russian Envoy Meets BJP Chief Nitin Nabin
Russian envoy and Nitin Nabin discuss growing India-Russia relations.
Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov met Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National President Nitin Nabin at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi on Tuesday, with the two sides discussing the continued strengthening of India-Russia relations. The meeting focused on the long-standing bilateral partnership and the importance of sustained high-level engagement between the two countries.
Nabin highlighted the strong understanding and trust between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin, noting that their regular interactions have helped maintain momentum in bilateral ties. He also acknowledged Alipov’s long association with India and his contribution to strengthening relations between the two countries.
The recent meeting between Modi and Putin on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Bishkek also figured in the discussions. Nabin expressed optimism about further strengthening the partnership and pointed to upcoming high-level engagements, including the BRICS Summit scheduled to be hosted by India.

People-to-people relations were also discussed as an important pillar of the bilateral partnership. Alipov highlighted the growing potential for skilled Indian professionals to contribute to Russia. The discussions reflected the broader scope of India-Russia engagement beyond government-to-government ties, with cultural, academic and professional exchanges also featuring in the conversation.
Nabin also briefed the Russian envoy about the BJP’s organisational structure and functioning, including its grassroots network, members, karyakartas, morchas and departments. He also outlined the party’s recently constituted national team and its emphasis on maintaining organisational engagement beyond election periods. Alipov congratulated Nabin and the BJP on their recent electoral victories in Assam and West Bengal and appreciated the party’s organisational reach.
The two sides also looked ahead to 2027, which will mark 80 years of diplomatic relations between India and Russia. They expressed confidence that the milestone would create further opportunities to deepen cooperation, particularly through stronger cultural, academic and people-to-people connections.
