India Flies Critical Ebola Aid to Uganda on IAF C-17 Globemaster in Humanitarian Mission

IAF C-17 airlifts emergency medical supplies from New Delhi to Uganda to combat Ebola outbreak.

India has delivered critical medical assistance to Uganda in response to the ongoing Ebola virus outbreak, reinforcing its commitment to humanitarian support and international health cooperation. The aid was transported aboard an Indian Air Force (IAF) C-17 Globemaster III aircraft, which carried essential medical supplies from New Delhi to Uganda on June 2. The assistance follows a request from the African Union Commission and is intended to support the response efforts of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC).

The Indian Air Force highlighted the mission on social media, describing it as an example of its rapid-response capabilities during humanitarian emergencies. Images shared by the IAF showed the loading and transportation of medical supplies destined for Uganda. In a statement posted on X, the force said the mission demonstrated its ability to swiftly deliver assistance during health crises and other contingencies requiring urgent international support.

India's contribution comes as Ugandan authorities and international health agencies continue efforts to contain the Ebola outbreak and prevent further transmission of the virus. Medical supplies and protective equipment are considered critical in strengthening healthcare systems facing infectious disease outbreaks. The assistance is expected to support frontline health workers and improve response capacity in affected areas as authorities work to manage the situation.
