A woman who appeared alongside US President Donald Trump during the signing of an executive order on childhood vaccination recommendations has responded to a wave of unusual theories circulating online about her presence at the event. Identified as Jayme Leagh Franklin, the founder and CEO of conservative media and lifestyle brand The Conservateur, she became the subject of speculation after a video from the Oval Office spread widely on social media.
The footage shows Franklin standing between Trump and US Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as the President signed the order on Monday. Franklin can be seen repeatedly nodding while keeping one hand over her stomach. Her gesture prompted some users on X and other platforms to speculate that she was pressing a device or somehow giving Trump an electric shock to wake him during the event.
As the theories gained traction, Franklin responded to one of the posts herself. She revealed that she was pregnant, explaining the reason for keeping her hand over her stomach. Her response came as online speculation about her identity and actions intensified, with several users and media reports subsequently identifying her as a former Trump administration staffer and prominent conservative media figure.
The video was recorded during Trump's signing of an executive order seeking changes to federal recommendations on childhood vaccinations. The order promotes a vaccination approach consistent with Trump's long-standing position that some childhood shots should be spaced across multiple appointments. After the signing, Franklin posted that she was honoured to join Trump in the Oval Office.
Franklin previously worked in Republican politics and served in the Trump administration. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, in 2020 and worked as a US Senate legislative intern in 2019 before becoming a coalitions coordinator for Trump's 2020 presidential campaign. She later served as director of correspondence in Trump's first White House. Her organisation, The Conservateur, describes itself as a media and lifestyle brand covering politics, culture, faith, fashion, beauty and femininity, with content primarily aimed at young conservative Christian women.
