IDF Confirms Killing Of Two Hamas Members, Including Weapons Production Head

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said two Hamas operatives were killed in separate targeted airstrikes in the northern Gaza Strip last Tuesday, describing the operations as part of ongoing efforts to counter threats to Israeli troops and civilians. According to the Israeli military, the strikes were aimed at disrupting Hamas's military infrastructure and preventing the group from rebuilding capabilities that could be used in future attacks. In a statement, the IDF said one of the strikes killed Fares al-Masri, whom it identified as a senior commander in Hamas's weapons production division. The military alleged that al-Masri played a significant role in manufacturing weapons and overseeing efforts to replenish Hamas's military stockpiles following months of conflict. According to the IDF, these activities formed part of the group's broader attempts to restore its operational strength and were being carried out in breach of the ceasefire agreement. The Israeli military also announced that a separate airstrike carried out in northern Gaza on the same day killed Mohammad Abu Shakian. The IDF identified him as a member of Hamas's elite Nukhba Force, a specialised commando unit that Israel has accused of participating in attacks against its forces and civilians. Israeli officials have repeatedly described the Nukhba Force as one of Hamas's key operational units responsible for planning and executing military operations. The military said Abu Shakian was targeted as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle Hamas's command structure and operational network.

According to the IDF, both strikes were conducted using intelligence gathered through its surveillance and operational systems.
